Wisdom for the new year (Psalm 90:12)
hello my friends welcome back in the morning mindset I hope you are ready to get your mind aligned with the truth of God for today will remind you tomorrow is our prayer episode coming out pray together it's where you have an opportunity to submit your prayer request for me to pray for and all of us were listening to pray together for those requests if you would like to submit a prayer request or even a praise you can go to carry green.com prayer check the description with this episode and you will find the link to go right to the form where you can submit your prayer well as we'd look upon the beginning of a new year 2020 it's just right around the corner I wanted your attention for a few episodes here to some money test from the scriptures I can help us as we think toward the future as we think toward what God might be doing a might want to do in US interests in the coming year let's begin by looking at psalm 90:12
this one written by David says teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom
maybe that again teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom
the obviously David speaking to someone here who is he speaking to will be speaking to the Lord God Of Heaven in Earth this is a prayer he's requesting that the Lord would teach us something and what is asking is that the Lord teaches he says to number our days what does that mean well there are a handful of things you probably could me but I think the primary meaning is or teach us to recognize that our time here on planet Earth
is fairly short how much do understand the everyday every minute every every opportunity that you give us is indeed a gift and that it is our responsibility take those days seriously to do with them what will amount for the greatest impact from our lives now lest we get ourselves an overburdened with this sort of thing and become just as dour serious person who is never looking to enjoy life never seeking to us that have an attitude of fund I don't think that's what the psalmist means because he's talking about it from the standpoint of having a heart of wisdom and we read the books of the Bible that speak much about wisdom of such a Proverbs such as Ecclesiastes we find a joy and that fun are actually part of living a wise life
you see she would beat me we're not wired to be so so tightly wound we're not wired by God to be people who can just run and run and run run without brakes without enjoyment without the joys of Life inside living this life of wisdom that David is talking about in light of the limited number of days that we have is truly about it so we need the Lord's help to walk that balance don't you think I think that's what David praying he's recognizing that his tendency is not to see this properly is Tennessee's to see this in a way that would
either caused him to be in Balance one way or the other I think we live in a culture where our tendency is to be too flippant about our days we take it too lightly and we we get engaged and all kinds of activities and habits that are unproductive an unfruitful and you're just wasting away our time print it's my prayer for you and for myself that as we go into this New Year we will number our days rightly so that we can get a heart of wisdom think about your life for a moment what kind of wisdom do you think we come to you and come for you from The Lord of Heaven and Earth if you were to look seriously at the fact that your life is very short you only have a certain amount of time
what would the Lord guide you to do in terms of actions over the guys you to say in terms of words toward those you love those you encounter those you work alongside what would he show you in terms of the things that are to be priorities in your life
friends we like David need to be praying prayers like this
because we need that Eternal perspective that bigger view that enables us to live rightly in the moments of our day today I pray that you will know this was a nature walk in it as we move into the new year
Lord Jesus we are grateful that you give us insight into wisdom as you do in this verse we do ask you Lord like David did to teach us teach us rightly how did the number of days to know the extent of our life the purpose of our life the reason you put us on the planet is to bring great glory to your name and as a result of that reality Lord we ask you to enable us to glean wisdom from that fact into live rightly before you look at use our lives in 2023 ruled out of them all sin and Temptation and bitterness we doubted them those long lasting things that have held us back and enable is for your sake and for the sake of your kingdom to live righteously and holy before you as the New Year. In Jesus name we pray
