Thoughts on Today's Verse...
This is a prophecy about Christ. There are many of these all throughout the Old Testament. This one says that Jesus would be the peace. Jesus certainly is the peace. He is the bridge between God and man. There could not be peace between us and God without Christ. Jesus exampled peace during His life: He rebuked one of His disciples for standing up for Him with a sword, and He did not fight against his captors when He was about to be crucified. Jesus is our ultimate example and source of peace.
My Prayer...
Loving and eternal God, thank you so very much for sending Jesus to be my sacrificial Shepherd. In a world gone crazy, his strength sustains me, his majesty overwhelms me, and in him I find my security and peace as I face the future.
